The construction of socialism is shown by cinema as a feat of the people
A modern bourgeois historical film is usually a palace drama. The Soviet historical film has established itself as a folk drama. This happens even if the tsar or another historical figure is depicted in the center of the painting, as, for example, in the painting "Peter the Great". It's about the historical concept, not who is shown. Following Alexei Tolstoy, director V. Petrov and actor N. Simonov saw the hero through the eyes of the people and showed him in interaction with time and the people. The famous English actor Charles Laughton could not achieve the same result, playing the main role in the film "The Private Life of Henry the Eighth", because the script of the film refers to the works showing the historical hero "in a bathrobe and a hat." The picture is therefore devoid of historical specificity, which is exactly the difference between "Peter the Great", where the contradictions and complexity of the character of the main character are shown in the typical circumstances of the struggle of young Russia.
Unfortunately, in many historical and biographical films of the post-war period, under the influence of the cult of personality, the hero was raised to a coterie and cut off from his era. He could dictate the time, but he did not depend on it. The art in these paintings has lost its realistic power. Of course, this is not an excuse for the fact that, in fact, historical films are not being staged now. But our viewers need them, because an artistic painting, reproducing a specific image of an epoch, returns it to us, makes us its inhabitants, and no history textbook can give this.
In the best films about the life of Soviet society, the building of socialism is shown as a labor feat of the people. It also has its own tradition. Let's recall the first Soviet full-length feature film with the significant title "Hammer and Sickle" (1921). The theme of labor, the image of workers and peasants were most vividly resolved during the period of the establishment of socialism in such paintings as "Oncoming", "Member of the government", "Big Life", "Komsomolsk", "Tractor Drivers". In these paintings, work is shown as the main sphere of the life of the Soviet people during the period of the emergence of a new existence, when the socialist ideal of new heroes was transformed into reality thanks to their active creative activity. Our cinema art in the post-war period turns with renewed vigor to the theme of labor. Such works as "Big Family", "Alien relatives", "Spring on Zarechnaya Street", "Height", "Poem about the Sea" appear. Through their work and struggle, these works reveal the moral character of the heroes, their resilience, masculinity, and patriotism, not as abstract qualities, but as character traits brought up by the entire course of the revolutionary struggle and socialist construction. The properties of these people act as the properties of the people, personified in their typical representatives.
Dovzhenko's "Poem about the Sea" is a great achievement in this regard.
Back in the late 20s, this greatest master of Soviet cinematography turned to the theme of the creator people, creating the picture "Earth". The conflicts that formed the basis of the film allowed Dovzhenko to raise the modern theme in the cinema of those years to the level of the best historical and revolutionary films of Eisenstein and Pudovkin. It was a fundamental victory. In everyday life, the artist saw collisions of historical significance. In the painting, the tractor plowed not only the earth, but also the consciousness of the peasant.
"Poem about the Sea" continues the theme of "Earth" at a new stage of life and art. Staged according to Dovzhenko's script, the picture was conceived by him as a widescreen, color film drama about the transformations on earth and in the souls of people during the transition to communism. Once again, significant conflicts and an epic plot allowed us to draw vivid portraits of our contemporaries, express their thoughts, and convey the pathos of their existence. Therefore, the biographies of the characters go back into time, have a future, which our reality is rapidly moving towards... प्रोमो कोड 1xbet
